    Cosmetic Treatments & Financing

Purely cosmetic procedures — done only to improve appearance, with no medical need — generally aren't covered by dental insurance. These usually include:

  • Teeth Whitening
  • Porcelain Veneers
  • Cosmetic Bonding
  • If a treatment is medically necessary, your plan may cover part of the cost. And treatments that aren't covered can be financed with interest-free options for approved patients — so you can move forward on a budget that works for you.

    Insurance Terms, Explained

    What is the annual maximum?

The total amount your insurance plan will pay toward your dental care in a plan year.

    What is a deductible?

The fixed amount you pay out of pocket before your plan begins paying for treatment.

    What is a co-payment?

A fixed amount you pay toward treatment while your insurer covers the rest. A co-pay can apply even before your deductible is met.

    What is co-insurance?

The percentage of cost you pay after your deductible is met. On an 80/20 plan, your insurer pays 80% and you pay 20%.

    What Dental Insurance Typically Covers

Dental insurance is built around specific treatments, and coverage varies from plan to plan. Most plans fully cover two preventive visits a year (cleanings and exams), and contribute toward restorative and major care such as:

  • Crowns & Bridges
  • Root Canal Treatment
  • Dental Implants
  • White Composite Fillings
  • Invisalign (orthodontics, often partial)
  • As a rule of thumb, plans cover preventive care at 100%, basic treatments around 80%, and major treatments at least 50%. We create treatment plans that maximize your benefits and keep your out-of-pocket cost as low as possible.
